Lecturer in Public/Population Health

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Public or Population Health. The successful applicant will build on, and enhance, existing areas of expertise and strength within the School of Health and Medicine and provide the potential for strong links with colleagues across and beyond the School. The post will also provide important opportunities to strengthen public health teaching and training in the School of Health and Medicine. It is envisaged that the successful applicant will play a key leadership role in developing a doctoral programme in public health, as well as contributing to the Public Health pathway in the e-learning MRes programme, short courses and the work undertaken by Health R&D North West. There will also be significant opportunities for research postgraduate supervision, mentoring work with public health trainees in the North West, and teaching opportunities relating to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

The Division of Health Research already plays a significant role in relation to public health issues regionally and nationally. Professor Jennie Popay has an international reputation in this field and enjoys good links with a wide range of colleagues in the NHS as well as in local authority and non-profit organisations of various kinds. This new post will provide complementary expertise in public health, to further enhance and build a strong public health presence within Lancaster University.
