Environment Specialist

The Indonesia Sustainable Development team of the World Bank is supporting client countries in the region to address their environmental and social development priorities and support sustainable development. The team is seeking a:

Environment Specialist (Code: Env-Spec)

The applicant should possess the following characteristics:

• Advanced degree in engineering, sciences, economics, environmental policy or related field, with extensive experience in preparing environmental assessments, environmental management plans and related assessment, particularly in context of developmental objectives with a poverty-focused outcome;

• A minimum of five years of relevant experience including work on environmental impact assessment, environmental policy and/or environmental management in Indonesia;
• Extensive field-based experience, including the carrying out consultations and working with international organizations/donor agencies;
• Ability to work across sectors and to think about issues in terms of outcomes, not just in terms of impact and impact mitigation;
• Familiarity with the World Bank’s operational policies and procedures as they relate to the environmental aspects of the World Bank’s work would be useful;
• Good diplomatic and analitycal skills, with ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and an inter-disciplinary team;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Indonesian with appropriate level of office information technology skills;
• Willingness to travel frequently in Indonesia.
